4 directors helmed Detector Bros. Pictures’ eight Harry Potter flicks. Home Alone director Chris Columbus routed the collection’ initial two installations, 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and 2002’s Chamber of Secrets , while Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates took on the six films that complied with. Each brought their own sensibilities to the franchise, particularly Cuarón, that is a well-respected name among both laid-back spectators and diehard cinephiles. It turns out that he isn’t the only popular auteur that Warner Bros. consulted with to guide a Harry Potter film, either.
In a current interview with Variety, Se 7 en and The Social Network supervisor David Fincher revealed that he was asked by Warner Bros. at one indicate pitch his take on the Harry Potter universe. He does not specify when said conversation happened or which movie WB was especially thinking about him taking care of. Fincher, nonetheless, claims that his pitch was ultimately much grimier and, well, creepier than the workshop was interested in checking out.
“I was asked ahead in and talk with them concerning exactly how I would do Harry Potter,” Fincher recalled. “I keep in mind claiming, ‘I simply do not want to do the tidy Hollywood variation of it. All of this is to claim: It does not come as much of a surprise that his take on Harry Potter didn’t straighten with what its moms and dad workshop desired. Those acquainted with his work would likely agree that his but cold, acidic instructions might have generated some odd results when filtered through the great, largely family-friendly globe of Harry Potter. That said, it would certainly have also interested see exactly how he could have handled a few of the darker elements of the franchise’s later installments.
